Whether you’re allowed to download depends on ownership, permission, applicable licenses, service authorization, and local law—not just whether you can technically do so.
YouTube Premium
The simplest way to avoid having to convert YouTube videos to MP3s is to use YouTube Premium. With this subscription, you can watch any video on YouTube without ads, and you can also download those videos for offline viewing.

Downloaded-video access ends when your Premium membership ends. So if you want to keep your downloaded videos, you’ll need to make sure that you don’t cancel your subscription.
So if you’re looking for a way to listen to YouTube videos without converting them to MP3s, YouTube Premium is definitely the best option. It gives you all the features of the YouTube app, plus the ability to download videos for offline playback. And it’s much cheaper than most other options out there.
